We are currently recruiting for the position of Instrument Scientist for LoKI and SKADI. This role exists within the Instrument Scientists Group of the Neutron Scattering Systems (NSS) Division. Working with the SKADI lead engineer you will develop the SKADI magnetic SANS and hard condensed matter capabilities. You will work with the LoKI Lead Scientist and support cold and hot commissioning of the LoKI instrument. Further, your responsibilities and qualifications include:
Your responsibilities:
• Provide scientific guidance and technical support to SKADI work package team in the area of magnetic and polarised SANS, and hard condensed matter science.
• Work with the ESS Polarisation team to develop requirements and specifications for the SKADI polarisation capabilities
• Work with the LoKI team to commission the LoKI instrument
• Work with the Instrument Data Scientist for SANS and other staff at the DMSC to develop software tools to process and analyse polarised SANS data.
• Present your work during Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP) and Scientific Advisory Committee reviews.
• Providing requirements to ensure the integration of the scientific capabilities of the instrument software, sample environment and support labs.
• Conduct your own research using small angle scattering and relevant neutron and x-ray methods.
• To a limited extent participate in teaching and outreach activities.
Required qualifications
• PhD in Physics, Chemistry or Materials Science
• Experience in polarised small angle neutron scattering
• Experience of working in an international environment.
• Excellent oral and written English skills.
Duration & Location
The position is a 3 year fixed-term position located in Lund, Sweden.
