We are now recruiting an In Vivo Biologist in Diabetic Nephropathy, located at AstraZeneca, Mölndal. Preferably the candidate start in the beginning of March and the assignment will initially continue for 29 months. The candidate will be employed by Adecco.

The arena
The Diabetic Nephropathy in vivo team is part of the Bioscience department within the Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVMD) iMed at AstraZeneca R&D Mölndal. The main focus of the team is in vivo research in the area of kidney disease and the team is responsible for building necessary capabilities in terms of acute and chronic models and in vivo techniques to assure high quality and timely in vivo support to projects.

The role
The role as a research scientist includes the responsibilities of the scientist to plan, conduct, and appropriately store and summarize experimental data. In addition the scientist needs to continuously develop experimental expertise required for practical delivery of high quality results to enable project decision making. The scientist is expected to support the establishment and validation of models and methods based on projects or disease area needs and regularly evaluate quality of methods.

Responsibilities include:
• Design and execute high quality in vivo pharmacological studies in an established chronic mouse disease model and support team in developing new/existing in vivo models/methods in diabetic nephropathy for testing of novel compounds.

• To work independently and contribute to the design and planning of experimental procedures by incorporating the views of others.

• Analyse, interpret and present experimental data and communicate results and store data according to AZ standards and policies

• Collaborate closely with other in vivo and in vitro teams within Bioscience and the iMed to drive efficiency and take advantage of knowledge and experiences

• Analyzing endpoints and/or biomarkers in urine and blood samples using e.g. ELISA or clinical blood analyzer. 

Minimum experience
• Bachelor or Master of Science or other appropriate education in relevant disciplines.

• Significant in vivo experience and excellent experimental skills in the use of animal models and in vivo techniques in rat and mouse.

• Good understanding and practice of animal handling and care and preferably skills in animal technology e.g. dosing and surgery of animals

• We are looking for an organized person used to advanced logistics and working with multiple tasks. Also a high degree of flexibility and an ability to work collaboratively is required to succeed in this role.

Preferred experience/requirements
• Experience in pharmaceutical R&D is an advantage

• Developing understanding of metabolic or renal disease area pathophysiology and pharmacology would be an advantage.
