Today our IB-programme has more than 200 students, and is a vibrant and engaging community within a school of 1900 students and 200 staff. The school is situated in central Gothenburg with proximity to the University of Gothenburg. The City Library, Concert Hall, City Theatre and Art Museum are all within a five minute walk.
The schools motto is A Modern School with Traditions and we are continuously striving to achieve high academic standards, which shows in our students results. Several students get accepted into prestigious universities worldwide every year. Our staff is passionate about learning and work together with the student as the centre of attention. Our students are engaged in their own learning, and we all work together with each others success as a common goal.
The IB Diploma Program at Hvitfeldtska is hiring a Diploma Program Coordinator for the school year 2022-2023 which will be a 1 year contract. The position will be part time at approximately 40-50% with the possibility for more percent, depending on the candidates competencies and if they are able to teach a subject where we are also in need of a teacher.
The subject teaching we have a need for are both in the Pre-Diploma Program (year 1) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (final 2 years of high school), and all are taught using English as the teaching language (except for Swedish 1). Mentorship of students may also be included in the position.
Pre-Diploma Competencies we seek:
• Swedish 1 (following the Swedish National Curriculum),
• Math 1c and 2c,
• English 5
• Social Studies/Civics and History. A willingness to teach these subjects in interdisciplinary manner is being sought.
Diploma Program Competencies we seek
• Extended Essay and TOK Coordinator,
• Theory of Knowledge Teacher,
• Math Application and Interpretation SL,
• English Language and Literature teacher.
We might even be in need of the following in the Diploma Program:
• Psychology,
• Economics,
• Biology,
• Chemistry.
Kvalifikationer• Experienced in teaching IB
• University degree in the relevant subject area
• Teaching licence, preferrably for Sweden but international qualifications are also acceptable
• English proficiency at a native-speaking level
• Long teaching experience
• Experienced in using ICT as a tool for teaching and learning
