Who we are
At (Vehicle Engineering) we believe working with geometrical architecture is a creative process and it should be fast! The engineers at Volvo group should focus on the technical challenges of our products and not be limited by shortcomings in development tools or processes. And by this we can bring new products to the market quicker than our competition.
We at the Vehicle Architecture, as part of the Vehicle engineering department lead geometrical packaging studies on components to support product owners to finding good installations in the truck. This contributes to set the optimal platform and truck architecture in our vehicles.
As part of our daily work we have a close collaboration with other internal stakeholders to find the optimal concepts to build the future trucks.
Your future team
Your future team consists of members where main focus is geometrical packaging studies, but also handling Load Capacity, Fire Safety & Vehicle Dimensions.
We are a group of skilled engineers with different backgrounds and experiences such as experts in engine installation or radar & sensor installation. Some more experienced and other in the start of their career. Team spirit and a collaborative environment is key to our success.
An open mindset with knowledge sharing between each other as well as transparency, communication and team work is of high value to us.
What you will do
In this role as a Geometrical Architect you will be leading the packaging studies and support the engineers to find the best solutions and secure those will work for Operations and Aftermarket.
We need a team member that can support the product updates by leading the packaging studies from early studies to later phases with main focus in early studies.
This means cross functional work with mainly engineers and representatives from manufacturing and aftermarket, but also other stakeholders are involved.
Who you are
As a person we believe you have an open attitude when meeting new people and enjoy networking in order to get the job done. Having the ability to plan and organize your work and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously is crucial in this role in order to meet deadlines in a high paced environment.
You have an interest in learning and developing yourself together with the people around you.
Goal oriented and communication skills is needed to get the job done since co-operation is a success factor. The position requires good spoken as well as written English
We believe you have the following knowledge and experience
In this role it is expected that you have:
• Around 3-5 years CAD experience, preferably Creo (or Catia)
• A couple of years of experience from the Truck/Automotive industry
• Bachelors degree within engineering or equivalent experience from a related field (within the Truck / Automotive industry)
It is also meritorious if you have:
• The knowledge of how to navigate the Volvo unique systems such as KOLA, EDB.
• Can handle complexity and variants of truck components.
• Experience from packaging within the wheelbase and/or powertrain installation.
• Experience from geometrical architecture work.
