About the Assignment
We are looking for a GCP Data Engineer to help build, develop and support modern data products in a cloud-based environment. In this assignment, you will work closely with product teams and stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable and high-performing data solutions while contributing to a modern data architecture and a DevOps-driven way of working within the retail sector.
Job DescriptionTake end-to-end responsibility for building, optimizing and supporting existing and new data products aligned with the target vision.
Drive a DevOps mindset and manage CI/CD pipelines, Terraform and cloud infrastructure in GCP.
Ensure data products can be deployed independently and meet standards for security, scalability, observability and performance.
Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and stakeholders to shape the vision for existing data products and identify new opportunities.
Work with product teams across and outside the domain on topics related to the data mesh concept.
Evaluate current solutions, drive continuous improvement and reduce technical debt.
Stay up to date with the latest data, analytics and cloud technologies.
RequirementsAt least 4+ years' work experience including hands-on experience as a Data Engineer on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Experience with GCP tools such as Dataflow and BigQuery.
Experience with Data Build Tool (DBT).
Experience with different data formats such as Avro and Parquet.
Experience with data query languages such as SQL.
Experience in data-centric programming using one or more languages such as Python, Java or Scala.
Good understanding of different data modelling techniques and trade-offs.
Knowledge of NoSQL and RDBMS databases.
Experience working with data visualization tools.
Passion for data, people and technology.
A collaborative and co-creative mindset with excellent communication skills.
Ability to work independently and make decisions in a self-driven environment.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
Nice to haveBusiness understanding or experience within the retail industry.
