Volvo Cars commitment in electrification leads us to take the next step in the development of Electric Propulsion Technology - Power Electronics. The Power Electronics department designs the brain of the Electric Vehicle propulsion system - The Traction inverters HW & SW as well as power conversion and charger units.
Your Contribution
You will be a part of the system team that is right in the middle of requirements and safety with focus on developing safe, stable and reliable power electronics. In our team we work with both inverters and conversion, and our partner teams are working with either inhouse development or bought parts.
As a functional safety engineer you will be a central part of our Hardware functional safety team, with the purpose to make sure that our design fulfills ISO 26262. You will collaborate with our software teams to design our technical safety concept and make sure all processes and requirements are fulfilled. You will focus on the Safety requirements and HW architecture as well as breaking requirements down to specific design elements. You will work on the evaluation of HW metrics and safe goal violations such as FMEDA and FTA as well as HW integration, verification analysis and Safety Case collections. Your responsibility will also work together with the design teams to balance design solutions to optimize attributes versus cost.
Who are you
We see that you have a master's degree or higher within power electronics or other relevant education. We also see that you have previous experience within automotive and/or functional safety for electronics hardware development. For example that you have good knowledge how to do fault tree analysis of electronics hardware and hardware metrics calculation. You are very familiar with ISO-26262 applied to electronics HW development and have solid experience from system engineering and particularly from power electronics safety aspects.
On a personal level, you are a highly motivated and reliable team player with a positive attitude. You are used to taking initiative and like to share your passion and knowledge with others. Your also have an analytical way of approaching challenges, you enjoy being challenged and has a flexible mindset. You are proactive to help to build the teams internal and external interfaces as well as continuously contribute to team competence development, by coaching and sharing experience and knowledge.
