hela Sverige MAX IV Laboratory is a national Swedish research facility that supports three research areas: accelerator physics, synchrotron radiation science and nuclear physics photo. More than 800 scientists from around the world annually visit the laboratory.
The MAX IV Laboratory, located in Lund, employs approximately 140 people.
Job assignments
We are looking for a person who can take an overall responsibility for operation and development of the SAXS technique, both instrumentation and methods, at the station I911-4 of the MAX IV Laboratory. You will have the responsibility to coordinate the routine beamline operation including maintenance, design, installation, and commissioning of new sample environments, as well as the scheduling of the user activities at the station.
Besides coordinating the tasks of a small team, you are also expected to take part in the daily operation of the station and assist users during their experiments. Your efforts should ensure that the highest possible quality data are collected at the beamline. In addition, it is also expected, that the candidate will be actively involved in the projects related to the development, if a SAXS beamline at the future 3 GeV ring at the MAX IV Laboratory is funded.
We are looking for a service minded person with a strong technical background in the SAXS technique. The position requires that you are dedicated and are available to work extra shifts when required. The position offers the possibility that you dedicate 20% of your time to your own research and/or development projects.
Qualifications
• Hold a PhD or equivalent in Physics, Chemistry, or another field relevant to the beamline.
• Have knowledge on X-ray optics for hard X-ray beamlines.
• Have a minimum of five years of documented experience from a synchrotron radiation facility as beamline staff at a SAXS beamline.
• Have documented experience in the development, commissioning, and maintenance of a SAXS beamline.
• Have a strong background in beamline instrumentation and development for the SAXS technique.
• Have a documented scientific research in using SAXS at synchrotron radiation beamlines.
• Have experience coordinating activities in a group environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team, but also ability to work independently, good communication skills, and a good command of English are further essential qualifications.
