Our primary research focus at department of molecular and clinical medicine is on metabolism,
diabetes, obesity and cardiovascular disease. We support and promote research and teaching in
translational medicine to improve health and to benefit society.
Job assignments
The work will take place at the Wallenberg Laboratory at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital in
Gothenburg. The primary focus will be to investigate how the eicosanoid profile differ in lean
versus obese subjects, and how this correlates with altered gene-expression of inflammatory
mediators in the adipose tissue. The studies will be conducted on samples collected from lean
and obese individuals, where the plasma has been analyzed via targeted lipidomics and adipose
mRNA has been sequenced by NGS. The applicant?s main responsibility will be to correlate the
lipid profile with altered adipose gene expression, via bioinformatics analysis.
Qualifications
The applicant must have a PhD, a suitable background would be a bioinformatics combined with
experience of laboratory work, and at least 2 years post-doctoral experience.
A strong background in bioinformatics (programming skills in R, Perl, Python, or similar) is a
requirement for the position. It is an advantage if the candidate has experience in the biological
interpretation of NGS data and experimental design.
It is a requirement that the applicant can work independently as well as in groups. International
experience is a requirement.
We are looking for a candidate who is used to working independently and that is driven.
Emphasis is placed on the person's interest in the subject.
