The section Contamination and Core CFD, belonging to Environment & Fluid Dynamics department, has a long tradition of using CFD as a tool for engineering and design process. We are currently 14 persons working within the areas; contamination & cleaning, climate comfort and aero acoustics, but also support our sister sections thermodynamics and aerodynamics with analysis and method development know-how. The Cleaning/Contamination part of the section is responsible for attribute requirement, planning and performing both CFD analysis and physical test in all phases of vehicle programs, both individually and in teams. We work together with system/attribute leaders, analysis engineers, stylists and designers to develop and verify our systems and components in our future vehicles. An important part of our work is to continuously improve our working processes and methods. Furthermore, close cooperation with universities and participation in global research programs are an essential part of our long term development.
As First CFD Engineer you will individually and in team develop CAE working processes, CFD methods and tools within the area cleaning/contamination (wiper and washer system, windscreen and head lamp cleaning). You will also plan and perform CFD simulations and give recommendation of design changes to reach Cleaning/Contaminations requirement targets as well as for the department related attributes. It will be within your role to develop synergies within and outside the department and lead cost as well as lead time efficiency tasks within the section. Supervising thesis workers and act as a mentor for new employees might also be a part of your role.
Main responsibilities
• CFD Method development, plan and carry out CFD analysis within the cleaning and contamination attribute
• Propose improvements to reach requirement targets through CFD
• Strengthen the product impact by means of CFD
• Support other areas within the department
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. within Fluid Dynamics or Applied Physics
• At least 5 years of industrial and/or academic experience in CFD
• Experience in more than one of the following softwares: OpenFoam, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, Harpoon, EnSight, ANSA, (Abaqus is meritorious), Matlab
• Fluent in speaking and writing in English
• Drivers license (B-level)
• Ph.D within Fluid Dynamics is meritorious
• Experience from automotive CFD including at least one of the following attributes; aerodynamics, thermodynamics, contamination, climate comfort or aero acoustics is meritorious
• An asset would be skills in Fluid-Structure interaction, Multiphysics, Optimisation and Robustness studies
