Are you passionate about developing next-generation battery materials? Do you want to be part of a leading research environment that bridges fundamental science and industrial applications? At Chalmers University of Technology, we are looking for a new faculty member (open rank) to advance research in battery technology.

As Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor/Full Professor, you will contribute to research and education in materials chemistry and chemical engineering, focusing on future battery technologies. Your work will help drive energy storage solutions, addressing key challenges in sustainability, scalability, and performance.

This is a unique opportunity to develop innovative materials, collaborate with world-class researchers and industry partners, and educate the next generation of engineers and scientists.

The position is part of a strategic initiative from the Swedish government - Competence and Excellence in battery research and education of the transport sector (COMPEL). Within COMPEL, Chalmers, Lund University and Uppsala University are responding to the need to ensure the long-term competitiveness of the automotive industry and Sweden as a whole. Research within COMPEL spans the full battery value chain and provides a multidisciplinary network for collaboration. Read more here: Compel battery initiative.

The position includes a start-up funding package, the size and scope of which will be tailored to the academic level of the successful candidate.

Your role

As a faculty member at Chalmers, you will:

• Conduct high-impact research on battery materials, including synthesis, processability, and interface engineering.
• Develop new materials, for example anodes, cathodes, and electrolytes, focusing on performance, scalability and real-world applications.
• Collaborate with leading academic and industrial partners in Sweden and internationally.
• Supervise and mentor students at undergraduate, graduate, and PhD levels.
• Contribute to teaching and curriculum development in chemistry and chemical engineering.
• Support an inclusive, dynamic, and collaborative academic environment.

This position offers the chance to work in an interdisciplinary research environment, where fundamental discoveries become real-world applications for a sustainable energy future.
