The Faculty is also the home to two doctoral education programmes: Resource Recovery and Textiles and Fashion.

About the research project

The research group Combustion and Thermal Processes has been conducting research on material recovery from ash for several years. More recently, the focus has been on biochar, mainly from sewage sludge, and how value can be added to the biochar to upgrade it into a good fertilizer, soil amendment, filter material, or carbon source for various applications such as lithium-ion batteries. We are now looking for a doctoral student in resource recovery with a specialisation in biochar production through pyrolysis and co-pyrolysis and value enhancement of the biochar, for example by doping with nitrogen or activation, to strengthen this area.

Visit our website for more information on the Combustion and Thermal Processes research group.
