Global Procurement Vehicle Propulsion at Volvo Cars is responsible for developing purchasing strategies, new vehicle sourcing, new engine and electrification sourcing, supplier quality, supplier foot print set-up/optimization and non-design cost reduction for all direct material supplies to Volvo Cars related to components within our responsibility area.

Within our team we now have an open position as Director Purchasing Propulsion Power Systems
As Purchasing Director for Propulsion Power systems, you will lead 3 purchasing teams in Europe and some 30 employees in total. You will be part of the Global Propulsion Procurement Management team. You will lead and develop your department as well as contribute in developing the propulsion unit in total. You will also cooperate with the Purchasing Propulsion Power team in China and USA to find and secure the best global sourcing synergies. As such you need to have a good holistic understanding and a good strategic view. You also need to thrive in a global, cross functional, fast moving environment.
Main responsibilities
* Deliver in accordance with Procurement priorities, targets and business plan.
* Grow the performance and capability of your organisation through continuous feedback and coaching
* Recruitment, new employee introduction, competence development and salary setting
* Set targets, call for progress review, take decisions and resolve any escalated risks or issues
* Secure good and efficient cooperation with internal as well as external stakeholders
* Develop global sourcing strategies and best practices for purchasing
* Develop relationships with global key suppliers to ensure best pricing, quality and delivery
* Develop relationships with key Stakeholders to ensure alignment in strategic sourcing projects
* Secure that propulsion procurement gets the right prerequisites from internal and external stakeholders
* Drive continuous improvement tasks to secure Propulsion becoming a "Best in Class" purchasing organization
* Contribute actively to the Procurement Transformation journey.
Required qualifications
* Demonstrated successful senior leadership experience from Purchasing, SQM or R&D
* Demonstrated experience from leading and coaching people and teams through continuous feedback and coaching.
* Demonstrated skills in driving both long term strategic issues and short term operational issues
* Demonstrated skills in driving continuous improvement projects that have increased capability and/or efficiency
* Strong business acumen, drive and ambition with excellent negotiation skills
* Effective analytical and problem-solving skills and be able to facilitate resolution of complex issues with an attitude, "yes we can"
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, be able to communicate complex issues in a simple way to both employees and executive management
* Commercial or technical university degree or equivalent
