VPS is a Group function within Global Truck Operations supporting the Volvo Group to meet business and customer needs through improved business performance by providing knowledge, methods and tools for a total operational excellence solution.
We contribute with arenas for learning, we promote networking, collaboration and commonality for effective utilization of competence and resources.
We build capabilities to reach world class level in operational excellence.
We facilitate and coach leaders to implement a model which has continuous improvement and the Volvo Way as main pillars. We govern and assess the progress of this model in the Volvo Group.
Director of Concept development
You will report to the SVP of Group function VPS, Group Function.
Mission
As Director of concept development you have to coordinate and drive the development towards one concept thinking.
You have to build and follow up VPS transformation roadmap in line with Volvo Group Strategic Objectives.You have to define the best practices in every domain of VPS.
You have to secure that benchmarking activities are extensively performed and used as inputs for further development
Main activities and responsibilities
Set mission & vision for the overall VPS concept
Initiate and follow up concept development projects.
Actively support overall company programs and policies.
Participate in Boards, Councils, Committees and Networks upon request of the SVP VPS
Secure the development of the VPS communication strategy and his implementation, in collaboration with the whole management group.
Develop networks (assessors, customer contacts, experts)
Participate in assessments to maintain the knowledge
Promote and support VPS within and outside Volvo Group
Define best practices in the one VPS concept that will contribute to the overall group targets when it comes to:
• SCOS (Std cost Of Sales)
• Variance
• PPE investments
• WIP inventory
• Assembly Quality
• On-time-delivery

• Communicate efficiently internally and with customers
• Ability to network in complex organizations and to gather the BA/BU?s
• Very Solid Lean experience (10-15 years) in development and implementation
• Management experience on a senior level (global and local).
• International exposure
• Thorough knowledge about the Volvo Group operations
• Broad background from several business (strong industrial background as VPS process manager)
• Strong Networking in complex organization and international environment
• Excellent Customer focus
• Process development and harmonization
• Needs to have a good understanding of the Volvo Group Businesses
• As all documentation is in English, proficiency in the English language is required.
• Other languages like Swedish, French, Spanish, Japanese, German etc is a merit
You have the willingness and ability to travel as needed.
The location of this position is flexible.
