Brand Design is one of five Design groups within Design. Our team consist of one Designer for Lifestyle Collection, one Communication Manager, one Designer for Collector Cars, and a few Consultant Designers. We are now looking for a person that will be responsible for the development of the Brand Design team.
As Director Brand Design you will work in a close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to plan and execute experiences that elevate our brand with customers and partners. The Director Brand Design is the link between the Volvo Car Design department to Volvo Car Communication and Volvo Car Marketing departments. The position is part of the Design Management team and reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Design. You will be based at the Design office in Gothenburg.
Main responsibilities
• Responsible for the Design Strategy
• Lead and develop the Brand Design team
• Develop the Lifestyle Collection and collector cars
• Support and give Volvo Design input and proposals for events, retail experiences and market communications
• Serve as a brand ambassador internally, helping others within the company to better understand the Volvo brand drivers, values, and attributes
• Articulate and demonstrate Volvo Cars' Design point of view on how our cars should appear in external communication
Required qualifications
• Master degree in design (MA or equivalent) preferably combined with communication or marketing education
• Around 10 years experience from design
• Proven leadership skills
• Creative awareness and an ability to combine an innovative approach with commercial ideas
• Exquisite sense of aesthetics combined with the ability to predict forthcoming moods, trends and themes
• High knowledge and understanding of consumer and brand behavior
• Fluent in English both written and spoken
Personal qualities
• High level of business acumen and performance driven
• Excellent communication and cooperation skills with a holistic view
• Ability to create networks and good relations internally as well as externally
• Ability to create a good work environment, good team spirit and development for own employees
