In Votion's processes bark, bagasse, lignin, sawdust, straw, and other types of biomass are converted into biooils and subsequently hydrocarbons. The sustainable hydrocarbons are fractionated into:
• Renewable Gas
• Renewable Naphtha
• Sustainable Aviation Fuel
• Renewable Diesel
• Biochemicals
About The Role
Votion is building its Technology Development & Process Design business function, Votion Tech, and we are now seeking to recruit a Development Engineer to emphasize more on patent applications, data generation in laboratory scale, as well as the development of the pilot plants.
As a Development Engineer you lead and write patent applications, ensure we get the best possible results and the required data from the lab-scale testing, as well as provide support in the design of the pilot plants. Once the pilot plants are operational, in 2024, your role will be to maintain and operate these pilot plant units, in order to optimize, collect data, analyze, and oversee the documentation.
Three large-scale biorefinery projects are being developed now, in parallel with lab-scale data generation, and pilot plant engineering. The data generated in lab-scale and pilot-scale are utilized in the engineering work of the large-scale projects.
What You Will Do
• Know your customer requirements. We will produce high quality Sustainable Aviation Fuel, diesel, naphtha, etc. You need to deeply understand customer and consumer demand.
• Know your feedstock. The feedstock composition is essential to understand before a test is started.
• Know your chemistry. To understand how the feedstock can be converted you will need to develop as chemist.
• Know from the beginning what is realistic to do in large-scale biorefineries. The engineering, safety, and operability aspects are essential to understand. These aspects will steer our focus in lab-scale and pilot-scale testing. This process design and engineering work is an integrated part of your role.
• Learn how other industries integrate safety in their daily operations.
• Communicate with an array of stakeholders on the status of projects.
Who You Are
• MSc Chemical Engineering
• Dedicated and devoted to make a difference in the world by applying your chemical engineering skills
• Curious, competent, and eager to develop within chemical reaction engineering, separation technologies, and hydroprocessing
• Experienced in reading and composing patent applications
• More than 3 years' experience as Process Engineer or similar role in an oil refinery, petrochemical plant or pulp mill
• Mechanically skilled and capable of replacing parts in our pilot plant
• Solid understanding of production processes and technology
• Fluent English skills, both oral and written, Swedish is an advantage
You are highly organized and can oversee and prioritize activities to efficiently meet business objectives. Furthermore, you endeavor the combination of highest quality and speed. It comes natural for you to build partnerships and work collaboratively with others. You have great communication skills; you listen actively and ensure others are well-informed.
