The section Electrical Distribution System (EDS) is responsible for all cable and cable harness components deliveries for all platforms within Volvo Car Group. Cable components are for example distribution boxes, connectors, cable channels and grommets. The section is a part of Electrics/Electronics & E-Propulsion within Volvo Car's Research and Development division. Currently we are approximately 30 employees, organized into two groups. The group EDS Components & CAE is responsible for cable harness components and CAE tools used for Cable harness design and acts a competence center for other design areas within R&D.
Working as a Design Engineer HW means that you establish and develop relationships with design engineers within most system areas of the vehicle as well as building an understanding of the designs within those areas. In this position you will therefore build and maintain a wide personal network both within R&D as well as in the aftermarket organization. You have some degrees of freedom to form your deliveries and to develop your own technical skills. As part of our team, you get access to long term development opportunities in a dynamic and continuously growing field, where you have a strong direct influence on customer satisfaction. As Design Engineer HW your main task will be to develop technical solution and documents that describes the components or review solutions developed by supplier.
Main responsibilities
• Develop solutions, in cross functional teams that fulfill design prerequisites and Volvo Cars standards within Time and Cost frames
• Responsible for packing and electrical interfaces of components towards surrounding environment, design in context, and for defining requirements on surrounding systems / components that are necessary to make the design work as intended (DPA)
• Responsible that technical documents are available at the right level and right time
Required qualifications
• M.Sc or B.Sc Mechanical Engineering
• At least three years experience working as a HW Design Engineer
• Experience from working in CATIA V5
• Experience of product development. Preferably within the automotive industry
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Driver's license (B-level)
