The Cost Engineering Department is a strategic function within Procurement with extensive experience and skills within all different types of components (plastic, metal and electronics) and production methods used in parts produced for Volvo cars. We are supported by calculation software to calculate cost for both Parts and Tools. Cost Estimating serves to provide the organization with expert competence regarding cost analysis.
What 's in your scope?
The Cost Estimating Department is now searching for a Cost Engineer for electronics to the Electrical team. The team is dedicated to fast changing exiting technology areas, covering Electrical Distribution System, Advanced Safety, Autonomous Drive, Displays, Audio, Infotainment and Connectivity. These areas are highly dynamic areas where we work with the buyers, Research & Development teams and also with our suppliers and sub-suppliers. Estimating cost for electronic parts is done with both engineering and business mind-set, i.e. by analysing actual hardware/technical and commercial prerequisites to understand what requirements are driving cost. The role gives the possibility to deep-dive into new technology and the electronics in vehicles, which are in a dynamic phase where new functions are designed into future cars.

Your main responsibilities include the strive to make sure that Volvo Car Group always gets value for money when purchasing parts, by estimating right cost level (Bill of Material and production process) and supporting with negotiation arguments to the buyer. Moreover, you will support engineering with cost estimates to improve design decisions with cost perspective.
The position includes some international travelling to suppliers' manufacturing sites to review the production processes from a cost perspective as well as Volvo's offices and plants in different locations.
Do you fit the profile?
We believe that you have a technical university degree in electronics, or relevant working experience. Moreover, you are fluent in English, both spoken and written. Some experience of purchase/supply chain management/sales with electronics is required. Knowledge from the manufacturing industry or of from working with displays, lighting or system on chip is a bonus. In addition, experience in cost calculations is meritorious.
