At the Department of Urban and Rural Development there are four divisions: Agrarian History, Environmental Communication, Landscape Architecture and Rural Development. The department is the largest within SLU for social sciences, humanities and design research. Questions about sustainable use and management of natural resources and landscapes are central to research and education at the department. The Swedish Centre for Nature Interpretation and Sidas Helpdesk for Environment and Climate Change are also part of the department.
Duties:
The future platform SLU Urban Futures is looking for a coordinator assistant with Ultuna as their place of work. The assignment will start as soon as possible, and run until December 31 2020. There may be a possible chance for extension. The project assistant will, together with the program coordinator, arrange external and internal events, seminars and other meeting places within the thematic area of the platform; support the coordinator in the work to continue developing our ambassadors network of students, researchers and teachers engaged in SLU Urban Futures and its thematic area; actively take part in collaborative activities in the Uppsala region with relevance for the thematic area of the platform, for instance through supporting our affiliate in an ongoing collaboration project between SLU and Uppsala municipality. In addition to this, the coordinator assistant is expected to participate in team meetings and workshops internal to the platform, and to handle to day-to-day administration. Other tasks might become relevant as well, depending on the experience and interest of the applicant.
Qualifications:
The assignment involves many social contacts, both with colleagues at SLU and with external actors, making social competence and collaborative skills key capacities. The assignment also demands independence and a good capability of planning, structuring, implementing and reporting on work tasks. Good capacity of communicating orally and in text in Swedish and in English is a demand. Previous experience from working with strategic documents relating to the platform's thematic area, and of working strategically with collaboration issues (samverkansfrågor), is meriting. Experience from organizing events, workshops and other meeting places is also meriting. Documented education within project management, as well as landscape architecture and the built environment, is meriting.
