About the Communication Department
Malmö University's Communication Department works with external and internal communication, strategically and operatively. It plans, creates and evaluates communication according to the needs of the University and its various target groups. This includes internal support in matters related to communication, student recruitment, PR work, research communication and activities related to the collaboration between the university and society, both nationally and internationally. The department is a part of the joint administration of the university and has just over 25 employees.
Job description
As a key member of a team which is responsible for English language communication, you will be writing, editing, and proofreading content for various media and audiences. Based in the heart of the University campus, you will work in the lively communications office but will be required to engage with both our thriving international student community and teaching staff of our English-taught programmes.
To succeed in this role you must be a versatile and proficient writer with professional fluency in English. You will be required to communicate faculty news externally and gain an understanding of the internal structure of the University. You will have a keen eye for potential news stories, which might appeal to both a University or wider audience. In addition, you will be able to identify communication needs for our non-Swedish speaking staff.
Qualifications
You should have a degree in a field relevant to the position, such as communication, journalism, English or linguistics and will have previously worked in editing and/or communication in English.
Experience with web editing is required, as is an ability to manage various social media channels.
The successful candidate will be self-sufficient and able to prioritise and manage their workload to meet deadlines as well as be a willing and capable team player.
Being able to communicate in Swedish is a great advantage for this position. It is also a benefit if you have experience of working with young target audiences and have worked within academia.
