We are proud product owners of components, systems as well as complete powertrains. We are accountable for the lifecycle management of our products, from advanced engineering, through product development into the maintenance phase. The majority of our powertrain components are traditional combustion engines, after treatment systems, transmissions and axles. However the importance of e-mobility components is growing every day.
We stand in front of significant challenges where reducing CO2 emissions is one of the biggest. In this position you will be part of an organization dedicated to technology as well as empowering and developing our employees. We always use customer satisfaction as the ultimate performance measurement.

The current position is a tthe Certification & Compliance Department at Powertrain Engineering which is a global team of around 35 professionals with presence in Sweden, France and USA. Its mission is to drive all powertrain emission and on-board diagnostics certification and compliance activities to ensure that our products are fulfilling all corresponding legal requirements and are compliant over time.
We are now looking to expand our team with a certification and compliance professional with a special focus on China and other markets in Asia.

Responsibilities / Main tasks
In your role you will be responsible for powertrain certification and compliance activities with a specific focus on the Chinese and other Asian markets. You will work closely with the certification and compliance teams in Gothenburg (Heavy-Duty engines) and Lyon (Medium Duty engines), interact with local authorities and support the local market companies. You are expected to be updated on European and local regulations and interact with local authorities. You will support certification activities for new products and products in the maintenance phase to ensure that all local legal requirements are followed. This covers as well all compliance related activities such as running changes, CoP and in-use testing. As a certification and compliance professional you will also build a close relationship with our local market companies and our brands centrally supporting full vehicle certification and homologation.
You will be based in Gothenburg but will spend significant time in China or other Asian markets to meet with local authorities and support our local market companies.

We expect you to have good knowledge of the Chinese culture and excel in building internal and external relationships. To be successful you utilize your networking abilities to create relationships inside and outside the organization. We believe that you have a strong focus on the customer and personal integrity needed to ensure correct certification and the compliance of our products.

Essential skills and needed experience
You are holding an Engineering or Master of Science degree
You have experience from emission / OBD regulation and certification
Minimum 5 years of experience in HD-Diesel technology, on-board diagnostics and/or project management within a global organization
Strong experience working with Heavy Duty engine emissions is necessary
Teamwork: Collaboration within the team, with other groups within Volvo, with industry representatives, and with regulators is a must
Ownership / Accountability: Taking the lead in getting the job done and accepting responsibility for personal actions, costs and results
Initiative: Taking action in the absence of specific instructions or in the absence of a specific requirement, taking reasonable risks to achieve results, and persevering when challenged
Flexibility: Monitoring a diverse array of internal and external activities, and appropriately prioritizing actions appropriate for each
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent presentation and negotiation skills
Fully proficient in the Chinese language and the Chinese culture
Fully proficient in English, good knowledge of Swedish is a plus
