For our location in Göteborg, Sweden we are currently looking for a Car Diagnostic Engineer (m/f)
Job description:
You will develop methods for diagnostics and fault tracing for components and vehicles. Your main tasks will be to develop fault tracing strategies, test methods and create a guided fault tracing in a graphical programming environment. The end product is used in a PC-based fault tracing application in the Car Manufacturers workshops all over the world. You will also validate your diagnostic methods on trucks. You are involved in different PD projects, where you are aftermarket representative for diagnostic content.
The work is performed in close co-operation with your colleagues in product development Powertrain, 3P and VBC. You will also work together with colleagues at our sites in USA, Brazil, Ageo and Lyon.
Responsibility
• To create and maintain diagnostic methods, and document them thru Fault Tree authoring in the Guided Diagnostic Tool (Grade X)
• Review and analyze engineering data as required and ensure technical accuracy of fault tracing documentation.
• Compile needed specifications (manufacturing specifications, wear tolerances, pressures, etc)
• Order new special tools and Carry over existing special tools to new methods.
• Order test and calibration functionality in diagnostic tool
• Order Virtual vehicle and components variants
• Additional responsibilities can be given on a case by case basis
Authority
• Work out diagnostic methods for vehicle/component, corresponding to truck- and component manufacturers demand on safety, quality and serviceability
• Approve fault tracing methods for release
• Approve tests and calibrations for release
• Additional authorities can be given on a case by case basis
Qualification
• Experience from diagnostics and fault tracing
• University degree in Electical/elecronics or computer sciences/engineering
• PC competence (Microsoft Office package)
• Database knowledge (Clearquest/clearcase)
• Pneumatics and Hydraulics knowledge.
• Excellent English, written and spoken
• Business- and customer oriented
• Self driven and with the ability to co-operate
• Interpersonal and analytical skills.
Qualifications nice to have
• Experience in Grade X (Terradyne) application is a big plus
• Volvo group product development experience (minimum 2 years)
• Workshop, dealership or fleet experience.
• Electrical training in vehicle area.
• Drivers licence, heavy truck (incl. trailer).
• Project experience
• Experience from maintenance or development of cars/trucks
