Do you want to be a self-driving vehicles engineer?
At Autonomous Transport Solutions (ATS) Research, Scania R&D, we pursue top-quality research and development of future cutting-edge ATS concepts. We operate in agile and self-steered teams that work in close cooperation with the TRATON group, leading technology suppliers, and academic institutions, with the ambition to detect and evaluate upcoming technologies. Our culture is built based upon delivering added customer value through research and practical experiments that iteratively lead to concepts for industrialization.
Does this sound like an interesting technical area? Then send us your application and we will be happy to give you a more detailed explanation.
Your responsibilities
As an autonomous vehicle engineer you will be responsible for designing, building, deploying, and optimizing the components of the ATS software stack. Your main task will be to make the software system available for use in the latest research prototype platform. You will be part of an agile team that both implements and explores state of the art approaches for autonomous driving technologies.
Your focus will be in the sensor pipeline, bridging the gap between sensors data stream and perception processes by creating interfaces and mechanisms for a reliable and efficient information flow.
You will work in tight collaboration with all the agile teams within ATS research, analysing the different components of the ATS stack, ensuring that the technical performance aspects are optimized. You will work in a multi-cultural team, whose success factor is based on the build-measure-learn practice, enabled by a flexible platform that allows testing of the latest autonomous driving concepts.
Your profile
You are analytical, result-oriented and face new challenges with a positive, can-do attitude. You are open and curious towards your teammates, and you enjoy supporting and contributing to the development with your technical expertise.

You have interest in multi-thread and multi-process systems, MPI, IPC, and networked and distributed systems.
You have proven experience in the following areas: C++ programming, software development on Linux platforms, continuos integration/continuous deployment, inter-process communications, virtualization/containerization.
Extra meritorious is the knowledge of one or more of these areas: networking and protocols, Linux OS, Linux kernel, TCP/IP & UDP communication, build systems (CMake), agile development, robotic systems, signal processing, test driven development, scripting languages (Python, Bash), design of complex software systems.
Are we right for each other?
We cannot promise you an easy task, but we can promise you dedicated and skilled colleagues and truly engaging technological and societal challenges to tackle.
