Do you have a solid background in Organic Chemistry and a proven experience in Medicinal Chemistry? Would you like to drive scientific projects both from the laboratory as well as in collaboration with external scientists? Join us to be part of the development of innovative treatment of Respiratory, Inflammation and Autoimmunity (RIA) diseases.

We are growing our team and recruiting an experienced scientist to the Medicinal Chemistry department. You will be based at our vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden

Our department is focused on driving discovery research in Medicinal Chemistry to deliver small to large synthetically accessible drug candidates. Our portfolio currently includes small molecules (SM), peptides, oligonucleotides and PROTACs. In this position, you will be chemistry lead in small molecule projects, but we embrace the diversity of talents and allow our colleagues to grow according to their interests.

Main duties and responsibilities

As a Medicinal Chemist lead, you will play a meaningful role in advancing new drug discovery projects. You will join a highly coordinated discovery team using innovative Medicinal Chemistry to invent novel medicines. Your focus will be on design, synthesis and characterization of biologically active molecules - from target validation to preclinical phase.

We constantly thrive towards scientific developments and you will be responsible for applying this in project teams, where you will lead compound design by generating completely novel ideas for our molecules.

Embedded in a strongly science driven environment, this position requires to actively look for opportunities to collaborate and to share our knowledge within the scientific community and offers the opportunity to publish and to present at external conferences.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Design and synthesis small molecule drugs
* Represent Medicinal Chemistry in drug discovery project core teams
* Support and steer of SM drug discovery programs
* Collection, analysis and interpretation of project data
* Prepare and deliver high quality project presentations and patents
* Publish in high quality peer reviewed journals



Essential Requirements

We believe you have a significant knowledge of the drug discovery life cycle, including validated experience of collaboration with computational chemists.

You know that teamwork and information sharing is essential for reaching the best results. We therefore believe you possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage and collaborate with across boundaries.

You are a creative and passionate Medicinal Chemist with the following characteristics:

* PhD in Organic Chemistry or related field
* 4-5 years industrial experience in drug discovery with a recognized delivery
* Detailed and up-to-date knowledge of Organic Chemistry.
* Experience in route design and synthesis of small, complex molecules
* Proven strong leadership skills
* Knowledge and understanding of safe operating practice
* Proficient in experimental design and laboratory equipment
* Good publication track record
* Developed understanding of how individual work impacts a project team's goals and R&D discovery
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* PostDoc experience in relevant field is desirable
