Job description
Lund University announces one or more tenure track positions as associate senior lecturer in business administration, accounting and auditing with a broad competence within both private and public organizations.
It aims, long term, at securing and developing teaching and research competence within financial accounting at the Department of Business Administration.
A full time position is temporary (four years), but with a possibility after application to be promoted to a permanent position as senior lecturer at the Department of Business Administration, Lund University School of Economics and Management.
Terms of employment
Applicants must be experienced and show competence within the subject area business administration and accounting and auditing. The position will include research (60%) and teaching (40%) at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, as well as administrative duties. The holder of the position is expected to contribute to the department's external activities.
Qualification on requirements
To qualify for the position, applicants must have a PhD within the subject area business administration, or equivalent scientific competence, no more than seven years before the last day of application. Applicants are also required to have demonstrated pedagogical skills. Ability to conduct and develop research of high quality in the field of accounting and auditing along with strong pedagogical ability form the basis for the position. Accounting and auditing connect strongly to practice, and applicants with a track record of practical job experience within the fields of accounting and auditing in both private and public domains are particularly valued.
The School of Economics and Management aims at a balance between research and teaching. Equal importance will therefore be given to the scholarly and pedagogical skills when assessing the applicants. Outreach activity is also taken into account. Preference will be given to the candidate who is most qualified in the subject area of accounting and auditing, and who has good knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative longitudinal research methods. Moreover, the ability to collaborate with the surrounding academic and civil society and to inform about research will be considered.
Pedagogical qualifications include experience from teaching in areas related to the subject area of the announced position. Preference will be given to the candidate that has experience from teaching and supervision within business administration with a focus on accounting and auditing. Experience from student-oriented pedagogy is considered an additional qualification.
It will be taken into consideration how the applicant's skills, abilities and personal suitability complement and strengthen research and teaching at the School of Economics and Management.
Promotion to Senior Lecturer
After application, an associate senior lecturer should be promoted to a permanent position as senior lecturer, if he or she is qualified for such an appointment and also assessed as adequate according to current eligibility and assessment criteria for promotion to senior lecturer (see below). An associate senior lecturer can only apply for promotion once. The application should be submitted to Lund University School of Economics and Management no later than three years and six months of employment.
Eligibility and assessment criteria for promotion
Eligibility for a permanent position as senior lecturer includes:
- Scholarly skills (with progression)
- Pedagogical skills (with progression)
- Completion of at least five weeks training in teaching and learning in higher education
Other requirements for promotion to senior lecturer
• High level of scholarly competence relevant to the subject and the working tasks of the position. This includes 4 publications accepted during the employment period in journals on the so-called Norwegian List, whereof at least 3 in international academic journals of good quality.
• High level of pedagogical competence, where special weight will be given to the documented ability to conduct teaching and supervision at different levels, together with an ability to reflect on your own pedagogical development. Course evaluations are expected to be part of the documentation of pedagogical competence.
• Progression in the academic leadership through increased ability to develop, lead and conduct education and research and/or shown interest in common departmental tasks.
• Strong ability to interact with the surrounding society and inform about research.
• Other personal abilities of importance to fulfil the working tasks in a satisfactory way.
