We want to therefore strengthen our global APC & Optimization team which is part of our Industrial Digitalization department. This team develop, support and deploy APC solutions in own plants as well as joint ventures globally in close collaboration with the local organisations who operate and maintain the APC applications.

We need an experienced Advanced Process Control engineer who will promote the development and implementation of new digital technology in the APC field for Borealis plants as well as in our Joint Ventures, Borouge and Baystar. As part of the APC team you work in close collaboration with Applied Digitalization, Process Automation and Operations. This results in Borealis being an organization which is in front of APC development and which heavily invest in APC projects for the future.
Your main responsibilities will include :
To promote Advanced Process Control (APC) as a key component in our Digitalisation journey.
To maintain, develop and improve process control solutions for sustainability, energy and operability.
To lead and execute APC studies and projects for existing and new plants.
To develop and promote our proprietary non-linear multivariable BorAPC controller, currently being developed to include plant wide optimisation and other digital twins functions.
To contribute to strategic planning on plant and group level for APC.
To promote innovative thinking and strive for "fit for purpose" simple solutions.
To provide training, advice and expert guidance to plant APC engineers and production management.
To give expert support and troubleshooting to existing APC installations.
As you can see we are quite flexible about the location of the role, but depending on the projects you will support, it will require extensive business travel in certain project phases. These travels will take you across our production and Joint Venture sites across Europe and potentially also to other parts of the world like the Middle East, Asia or North America.
About you
Your profile:
Graduate Engineer in Chemical Engineering, Automation and/or Process Control.
Minimum 5 years experience from working in petrochemical / polymer industry.
Minimum 5 years experience from working with APC and Process Control.
Trained in process modelling and simulations tools.
Trained in numerical solvers and optimization methods.
Trained in Multivariable Process Control.
Trained in DCS and Basic Process Control.
Experience from multi cultural work environment.
Excellent analytical and communication skills, enjoying to share knowledge with others.
Fluent in verbal and written English
