We are looking for an experienced teacher, familiar with LGR11, who has a passion for developing education and is ready to take on a leadership position. You have experience of working in an international environment as well as a thorough knowledge of the Swedish educational system. Comfort working in both English and Swedish is a must as you take a hands on approach, actively engaging with teachers, staff, students and parents. The position also requires a strategic mindset with clear problem solving abilities because you will play a vital role maintaining high academic standards and implementing new initiatives and procedures to deepen our students' positive learning experience.
The role will be full-time with probation starting in August 2021.
IES Länna opened in August of 2018 with 410 students in grades 4-8. We have grown gradually and now have 570 students in grades 4-9. In August 2021 we will expand with 2 additional classes in year 3. Our school is very community-centered, and we focus on building a climate based on our four core values: respect, honesty, hard work and safety. All people in our school--students, staff and parents--are expected to work with these values daily.
Key areas of responsibility
• Collaborate effectively with the principal, assistant principals, and pastoral manager as part of the school's leadership team
• Directly manage a team of academic leaders (heads of department) as they continually improve learning possibilities that meet national educational standards and spring from our students' interest
• Collaborate with the student care team to ensure that all students are receiving appropriate adjustments to find success in learning
• Facilitate the creation and needed adjustments to yearly planning, including timplan and tjänstefördelning
• Work with assistant principal to create & maintain school schedule
• Collaborate with IT rep to streamline workflow & reduce teacher administrative tasks
• Facilitate local curriculum organization in all subjects
• Offer direct and regular feedback to teachers through lesson observations & one-on-one meetings
• Work with gymnasiums & SYV to develop strong ties between the school and post-grundskola possibilities
• Plan and coordinate all national tests and act as operational leader on exam days
• Work directly with principal to ensure academic quality in lessons & student results
• Create and facilitate on-going staff professional development opportunities
• Manage the completion of school's local and national surveys and reporting needs
• Collaborate with student council academic committee to ensure strong student voice
• Assist in interview and onboarding process for new staff
• Coordinate IGCSE program
