System Engineer WCDMA Concepts and Simulations

Unit description

The Technical Management unit at PDU WCDMA and Multi-Standard RAN (WMR) has an essential role in securing Ericsson?s technology leadership, with the overall responsibility for HSPA and Multi-Standard RAN evolution. This is mainly done through concept development, standardization and feature studies as input to product development. Our solutions are often based on early performance estimates by use of link and system level modeling and simulations. We aim at guaranteeing overall system performance while new functionality and product improvements are introduced. Early customer and stakeholder feedback is a key element in our development process. We apply Agile and Lean methods and principles in our daily operations, and rely on team collective responsibility to complete studies according to an established backlog priority.

Job description

We are now looking for a competent system engineer to join the concept and simulation team. We are looking for a motivated and flexible person who truly believes in team work, is eager to learn and is capable of applying rigorous theoretical concepts to real-world product development in a dynamic business environment. You will be working in the core of Ericsson product development and have the opportunity to grow your competence and establish a contact network among experienced colleagues.

Main activities and responsibilities

• Developing WCDMA RAN concepts and algorithms based on sound theoretical considerations and commercial feasibility to support Ericsson's WCDMA product strategy.
• Evaluating algorithm proposals by way of link and system level simulations and product implementation investigations.
• Developing the functionality and quality of our Java-based radio network simulator and our C++-based physical link simulator to support performance evaluations.
• Interacting and influencing a wide range of organizations on matters related to WCDMA system features and performance, such as Ericsson Research, 3GPP, WCDMA product management, and product development units.

Qualifications:

• M.Sc., Ph.D. or equivalent
• Experience of telecommunication research or system design including simulations
• Good knowledge of WCDMA system architecture and behavior
• Good knowledge of control theory and modeling of algorithms
• Programming skills in Java, C++ and Matlab
• Strong analytical skills
• Excellent communication and team working skills
• Self-motivated, flexible and well-organized
• Excellent written and spoken English
