hela Sverige Nordic Entertainment Group entertain millions of people every day with our streaming services, radio networks, TV and production companies. We are already the Nordic region's leading streaming and entertainment provider - and we are now to become the European streaming champion. We plan to launch in 10 new markets by the end of 2023, including Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and the US in 2021.
Would you like to be part of this exiting journey on making Viaplay the European Streaming Champion? We now are looking for a Web/Fullstack Developer with more frontend-focus.
The position
As a Web Developer, you will be focusing on the development of the web platform for the fastest growing online video on demand service in Northern Europe - Viaplay. You will be building efficient and high-performing web-based interfaces and applications and contribute to our platforms, APIs and libraries. Your work will be a part of Viaplay's strategy to grow and continue to bring an innovative first class streaming service to our customers.
We thrive in using the latest technology, always keeping up to date and constantly develop our ways of working. The Viaplay web app is, in short, a dockerized React app running on AWS. It employs functional, declarative and reactive patterns to render data from our Node.js backend. Also, we build almost our whole product here in-house - real time analytics included.
The journey ahead
You will join our product area Customer Retention and be part of a new cross-functional team (client and backend development, UI/UX, product management) and deliver engineering solutions aligned with technical and product long-term visions.
Some of your daily tasks will include:
• Running and taking ownership of technical design, complexity assessment, development, test and deployment.
• Collaboration with other teams in a exciting and agile development process.
• Ensure that the tracking framework is easy to adapt when implementing new functionality.
What we are looking for
You are an experienced developer and have worked with a variety of tasks requiring complex problem solving using React and Node.js. You have been involved in the development of data rich interfaces that require a high degree of scalability, performance and fault tolerance. If you also are a good communicator with great critical skills, we'd be really happy!
Ideal candidates also meet the following requirements:
• Solid experience with React, Redux and Node.js.
• Conceptual knowledge about Functional Programming
• Knowledge about GitHub actions or similar CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge about working with REST API.
• Team focused with enthusiasm to unit testing, code review and other quality-oriented practices.
• Experience with modular programming and long-term laziness.
• Enthusiasm for Agile software development
Bonus requirements that will make you stand out from the rest:
• Experience with any tag manger (ie GTM, Tealium).
• User focus.
• Knowledge about Node.js ecosystem and microservices.
• Experience with Reactive Programming concept and Rx.js.
• Extensive experience in modern architecture patterns.
We offer you
• Freedom to try out new things and independent decision-making by our autonomous teams.
• We build almost everything in-house with innovative technologies. We inspire others and share knowledge openly.
• A place to grow and learn from our mistakes. We have a learning and development focused environment with an emphasis on knowledge sharing, training, regular internal technical talks, mentorship programs and guilds teams.
• An innovative environment with hack days two times a year.
• An international and diverse environment with people from all over the world working here. We have 35+ different nationalities in the office coming from different backgrounds.
• An attractive offer with a beneficial occupational pension plan, insurance plan, health care, 30 days of paid vacation, flexible work hours and parental leave pay lift.
