Thermal Management is a department within Vehicle Technology responsible for developing, delivering and maintaining an optimized cab climate and vehicle cooling & heating systems for all types of propulsion installations to all truck brands within the Volvo Group. We are responsible for leading the work with strategies and advanced engineering globally. We are located at Gothenburg and Bangalore and we have close cooperation with the sites Greensboro and Lyon. We understand the final customer needs and apply our knowledge to develop technical concepts and solutions that satisfy customer and business needs. The work is based on innovation, shared technology, common architecture and brand uniqueness.
Role description
In the position, you will lead component development of thermal components within A/C, heating and air distribution area, for mature application as well as emerging application such as electric vehicles. You will develop components to meet system and vehicle requirements while optimizing for efficiency, quality, cost, weight, manufacturability and serviceability. You will develop and execute design verification plans and test methods and work together with a cross-functional network. You will drive the work with development suppliers. You will also document the development, components and component technical requirements in Volvo systems. You will work in all development phases, from advanced engineering to maintenance and quality improvements.

You are able to take ownership of an own area and deliveries and thereby take accountability, as well as being a team player.
Required knowledge/experience
Detail knowledge of thermal systems (HVAC, A/C system, heating, air quality and filtering)
Advanced knowledge of development of mechanic and electric system development and verification process and methods
Heat Transfer and Thermodynamic knowledge
Knowledge and understanding of SW is considered a merit
CAD (Catia V5) competence is considered a merit
Volvo documentation competence, e.g. KOLA, is considered a merit
Fluency in English, verbal and written
MSc degree in engineering or equivalent
