Chemical and Mechanical Engineering is a department organized within Shared Products Engineering at GKN Aerospace Engine Systems in Trollhättan.
Our main responsibility is to support GKN AES development programs, research center and production with knowledge in materials engineering. We conduct research programs of new materials and processes, work with improvements, problem solving and run laboratory investigations in current production. We continuously strive towards better performance through continuous improvement work and working close to our customers.
We want to extend our team with a test engineer for mechanical testing.
Your responsibility will be to perform mechanical testing, such as tensile tests, cycled fatigue tests and crack propagation. You plan the work in cooperation with the rest of the team, so test plans can be carried out within agreed timeframes and with the fulfillment of specified requirements. In time, you will achieve responsibility for various test methods and take part in developing new methods and testing techniques. You will be in charge of the equipment in mechanical test lab, managing calibration, maintenance plans and new investments. You propose and implement method and equipment changes and participate in continuous improvement work. You act as contact person for technical issues for external and internal suppliers. The materials lab is accredited according to ISO 17025 and you will take part in the quality assurance work for mechanical testing.
Qualifications
• M Sc or B Sc in Materials Engineering, Solid Mechanics or Physics
• Knowledge and a genuine interest in Materials Science and statistical methods
• Previous experience as a test engineer, preferably from measuring material properties, is acknowledged
• A hands-on person with the ability to take on tasks and deliver results according to agreed plans and goals
• Good communication skills in Swedish and English, spoken as well as written
