About the position

Digital River offers a complex environment with a variety of platforms (ecommerce, payments, logistics, SMB, marketing) and multiple technology stacks, that together deliver our capabilities to the market. At Digital River World Payments, focus is the payment products on a Java-based platform. We operate in a flexible, quickly changing environment, with demanding and compelling technology challenges, which make our daily work complex, difficult and very interesting.

We are now hiring a technically skilled, structured and communicative engineer for the full time position Technical Coordinator/Java Developer.

The Technical Coordinator role is a 50% assignment, where you will coordinate the implementation of escalations, maintenance and feature requests in the DRWP Core vertical, as well as coordinate and support the off shore development team in Pune, India.

You will be the single point of contact for incoming requests and you will make sure the changes are investigated, prioritized and scheduled in coming releases. You are also responsible for following-up and communicating progress.

You will be working in close cooperation with the Product, Operations and Development teams in Stockholm, US and India. You will plan, provide guidance and follow-up on development activities executed in India.

A key to success in this role is to be structured and being able to communicate effectively with people in a distributed work environment.

On your other 50%, you will do hands-on development of payment products. You will be part of the entire development cycle and design, code, and unit test new products, features and modifications.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the maintenance activities
• Coordinate and support the development team in India
• Define, design, and implement efficient and scalable distributed software applications in collaboration with team members
• Work independently with little need for supervision
• Ensure the high standards on performance, scalability, reliability and security, required in the payment's business, are met
• Provide technical design documents and documentation to ensure efficient maintenance and code reuse
• Stay up to date with trends, techniques, technology and other factors impacting the job
• Contribute to how we work in the development department, by suggesting improvements in processes, tools and frameworks

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

What we would like to see most of all is someone with a flexible attitude and aptitude to learn. What ideally would intrigue us is the following:

• 5+ years work experience programming in Java SE, SQL, Unix and Linux
• Experience in a coordinating role, such as on-site coordinator, technical coordinator, Scrum Master or technical project manager
• At least Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Ability to efficiently communicate in both a technical and non technical manner
• Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a dynamic work environmen
• Experience in managing complex legacy systems
• Experience in SCRUM or other agile development methods
• Fluency in English both in writing and orally
