What makes a city? The true (boring) definition is a certain amount of people living within a limited area, with working infrastructure and communications between different groups of people or between different services, also confined in the geographical borders of the city. But we all know that "city" also involves a specific feeling of being in the middle of everything, where everything happens, surrounded by a large group of people, all different individuals and not alike at all but you still feel connected to them because you all share the same love and passion for where you are and what you are doing. What we think Vera means when claiming jazz is the city of music, is that everyone is given the freedom to be exactly who they are and play exactly how they want to play, in beautiful harmony with each other. Our goal is to make Skymill the city of software development.
Right now we are looking for a leader, able to build this city and who can act as "Tech Lead Back-End" in the wonderful Skymill City. This of course demands a certain type of person who is not easily described, but we have tried to narrow it down:
Personal traits
• You don't give up when faced with problems that seem impossible to untangle
• You have spent most of your life working with software development and engineering and consider yourself fluent in multiple programing languages and technologies
• You don't give up on your own ideas, even if others find them weird or too far out
• You enjoy giving lectures and talks, both inside and outside the office
• You are living in, or plan to relocate to, the greater copenhagen region

What you will be doing
Playing for Skymill as a Tech Lead in the area of back-end development means that you will be involved on many different levels in multiple projects. Although hands-on coding will be your main task, software architecture, technical pre-sale and internal education are amongst the other activities found in your weekly calendar.
You will be doing this either by working at our clients location, adapting to the clients processes and requirements, or by creating your own requirements and working from our office in Malmö. You also need to have the ability to turn these requirements and processes into beautiful implementations, mainly using Java, Golang or JS/Node.js You also have to walk and support your team members and our customers throughout the entire development cycle.
Most of all, you have to let the passion you have for producing quality software shine through in your everyday work. You will be working alongside some of the most brilliant developers on the scene at the moment, so you have to be able to let them shine as brightly as you do.
Desired skills
To be able to fill the bill as Tech Lead for back-end development, we believe that you have at least five years of real work life experience from the field, and you have to be at an expert level within one or many of the following areas or technologies:
• Java
• JavaScript/Node.js/NPM
• Golang
• Back-end software architecture
• Test driven development
• API development
• Cloud first development practices
In addition, we take for granted that you possess sufficient day-to-day knowledge of:
• Relational and NoSQL databases
• Linux
• Scripting in Bash, Python or similar
• Version control in Git
• CI/CD work flows
• AWS and/or GCP
• Open source methodologies
• Good beers
As tech lead, you also need the skills to guide, train and motivate your more junior team members and colleagues towards getting the same quality in their work as you get in yours. Occasionally, you are expected to attend software development events and host public sessions and workshops around your expertise. And of course, you need to be one hell of a consultant.
