System Safety Engineer- HV Battery Systems

The department Electrical Propulsion Systems, EPS, (allocated within Powertrain unit) is responsible for developing high-voltage batteries, electrical machines, DC/DC converters and on-board chargers for electrical and hybrid vehicles. The department is responsible for both hardware and software development and have tight cooperation with the rest of the powertrain department since the propulsion aspect of the systems is the main focus. Thus, customer focus and drivability are always in focus during daily work. At EPS, you are part of a global team with the task to make Volvo Cars the most desired premium electrified vehicle.

The Concept and Industrialisation Management group, is responsible for leading the development of traction batteries for future Volvo cars. Together with the hardware & software design teams we are developing the best batteries in the world.

As System Safety Engineer, you will work, cross functional, together with our Hardware and Software design teams, system responsible, functional developers and suppliers. You will lead and coordinate projects to make sure we are fulfilling the ISO26262 requirements.

Main responsibilities

* Ensure the traction battery is compliant to the ISO 26262 standard, from initial idea to final product

Required qualifications

* BSc Engineering degree or equivalent
* Deep knowledge in ISO26262 methodology
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Experience from Li-ion battery development is meritorious
* Experience of AutoSar is an advantage
* Certified in ISO26262 function safety is meritorious
* MSc, within relevant field is meritorious
