Propulsion Transmission Systems is design responsible for manual and automatic gearboxes, driveline and AWD system within Volvo Cars Corporation (VCC). We lead the development within our area in hybrid, Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) as well as Battery Electric Vehicle (ICE) powertrains. The department is working with in-house design and manufacturing on Electric Front Axle Drive (EFAD) and Electric Rear Axle Drive (ERAD) within the Modular Electric Platform (MEP) where we are responsible for the whole development chain of design, computer aided engineering (CAE) and physical verification.
The Manual & Electrified transmission within the department is responsible for manual transmission system for both combustion and electric engines. Included in this system is external shifter and clutch hydraulic system including flywheel and clutch. The transmission and delivery unit of the complete electrical axle-units is a growing area within our responsibility.
For the in-house design and manufacturing of transmissions for coming electrified vehicles, we are now looking for a Senior Design Engineer with a solid background from the design of automotive transmissions.
Main responsibilities
You will be part of a small team creating new transmission concepts and be responsible for the design of components and subsystems in new projects. You will be responsible for your products to meet all legal and customer requirements and expectations.
Develop solutions in cross-functional teams, that fulfil design prerequisites and VCC standards
Responsible for technical documentation, to be available at the right level and right time
Revise drawing specifications and technical regulations made in the team
Verify the solution and recommend changes of the design regarding technology, quality, service, environment, market adaptation and rationalization
Secure component's scalability for the component area between platforms
Give support to concept studies in early program phases
Transfer the knowledge to Design Guidelines, Design Prerequisites and Technical Regulations
Work closely with CAE and testing engineers making the verification plan
Required qualifications
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Relevant experience and a genuine interest in product development within the mechanical area
Experience from automotive industry and development of automotive components is beneficial
Experience in working in close cooperation with different stakeholders, for instance suppliers and manufacturing
Fluent in English, written and spoken
Driving license "B"
