System Design Control Engineer - Engine Controls and Calibration

The section Engine Controls and Calibration is responsible for all software (SW) functionality that controls the combustion engine and our work form the base for the entire powertrain control system.

As System Design Control Engineer you will be responsible for the area of lambda control & evaporation. You will function as an operative control engineer as well as carry technical lead responsibility for a team of 2-3 calibration engineers. The team is responsible for control algorithm development, basic calibration of lambda control system and purge control for the evaporative system. Our solutions are created through model based SW development using the primary simulation tool Matlab/Simulink. Simulation models are used to verify the function together with calibration engineers as well as by physical testing on engines or in vehicles to fulfil internal and legal requirements.

Main responsibilities

• Identify function development needs and participate in annual processes to start advanced engineering studies or process development
• Follow development at universities and industry press, conferences and document this in strategic plans
• Plan and cooperate with Technical Specialists to start development activities and schedule towards projects
• Balance solutions between ongoing projects
• Lead and participate Faliure Mode Effect Analysis (FMA/FMEA) activities
• Cooperate with suppliers regarding SW functions and requirements
• Develop principles, methods and tools for optimisation
• Lead and participate in calibration of new designed functionality to secure know how transfer to calibration engineers
• Participate in system team work across the department powertrain development

Required qualifications

• Technical university degree, B.Sc. or higher, within Physics, Mechanics, Electronics, Automation, Chemistry or equivalent
• Experience from e.g. automotive or aviation development or similar control system business
• Skilled in Matlab/Simulink/Stateflow and control engineering
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Experience working on real-time embedded control systems and knowledge of statistical methods is meritorious
• Combustion or chemistry background is meritorious as well as combustion engine control knowledge
• Basic skills in vehicle development process both mechanical, electrical and software is meritorious
