Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world's top 100 universities. The University has 40 000 students and 7 600 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.

MAX IV is a Swedish national large-scale research laboratory hosted by Lund University. It provides scientists from Sweden as well as internationally, with state-of-the-art instrumentation for research in areas such as engineering, physics, structural biology, chemistry and nanotechnology. Fully developed it will receive more than 2 000 scientists annually, conducting ground-breaking experiments in materials and life sciences using the brilliant X-ray light.

BioMAX is the first X-ray macromolecular crystallography beamline of MAX IV Laboratory, which is in user operations since 2017 and serves several user communities within our growing user program.

It is a state-of-the-art facility, which is accommodating multiple cutting-edge experimental instrumentations. The beamline experiment set-up is highly automated, in terms of both sample handling hardware and data analysis, including feedback on the data collection.

FragMAX Project
Pharmaceutical research using rational drug design is directed towards developing new drugs as a major resource for public health. Within the FragMAX project we are aiming to develop and offer a facility to support experiments for this kind of research as well as for basic academic research. This includes the creation of large data-sets, which needs to be stored, visualized and made accessible to the researcher. Therefore, we need to develop new software tools to facilitate this important research task.

Tasks
You are developing, implementing, testing data visualisation tools to the FragMAX webapp. The task will be the creation of responsive and interactive graphs, which plot results from user experiments using modern JavaScript libraries. This position does not require any knowledge of crystallography or drug design.

You are expected to work both, independently as well as in close collaboration with the BioMAX team, the MAX IV-IT and controls group and the industrial collaboration partners as well as other international collaborators and future FragMAX user communities. You will be working closely together with software experts of the FragMAX team.

Qualifications
• Knowledge of Python and JavaScript
• Familiarity of Pandas Python library
• Experience with JavaScript plotting libraries, such as mpld3 and/or D3
• Experience with relational databases is considered a plus
