Stress
Engineering Supplier Manager
Work
description
Saab
Aerostructures focus on development and manufacture of aircraft structures, as
an Integrator to both external and internal customers. The aim of Saab
Aerostructures is to be the best performing supplier from all aspects, and support
the business of our customers with competitive prices in combination with a
world class team for Development and Industrialization of new as well as
existing products.
The Stress
Engineering Office at the Saab Aerostructures Development Department is
responsible for the structural integrity of the structure of the Gripen
fighter, as well as the Saab Aerostructures work packages for external
customers such as Airbus and Boeing. The office is also responsible for
development and support of stress methods and data within the Saab Aeronautics
field.
Since a year and
a half Saab Aerostructures has a development team on-site at Airbus in Filton (Bristol, UK),
where we participate in concept studies and development work on Airbus future
products.
Since the Saab
Aerostructures business with Airbus is expected to increase, the team in Filton
need to be increased with more stress engineers, including a "Stress
Engineering Supplier Manager" as described below.
In future work
for Airbus, Saab expect to act as an Integrator, managing the development work
not only at Saab but also at a number of international design-to-build partners
to Saab. The job "Stress Engineering Supplier Manager" most probably requires
working abroad for a significant part of the coming 2-3 years. First on-site at
Airbus during the joint development phase, and thereafter most probably at an
international partner site. After this period the work is expected to be
continued at Saab in Linköping.
The job includes
for example:
• Coordination of
the stress analysis work performed in the next Airbus development project by an
international partner to Saab.
• Control that
structural analysis and structural verification performed by the partner is
done according to approved methods, data, tools and loads.
• Ensure that the
partner work package meets the customer and Saab requirements regarding stress.
• Participate in
review meetings between partner, Saab and customer.
• Stress approve
interface drawings related to the work package.
• Report to the
Saab Stress Engineering Manager
Qualifications
Since the "Stress
Engineering Supplier Manager" will be
responsible for the strength of an imoprtant piece of aircraft structure, a long previous experience of stress analysis in the
aerospace field is required. The work package may contain metallic as well as
composite primary structure, and also systems installations, and working
experience from those areas are therefore an advantage.
This position
also requires a documented ability to work together and communicate with people
from different cultures, and very good skills in the english language (spoken
and written).
