About the position
SSAB is the leading steel producer of high strength steels and famous for the high quality products like Hardox and Strenx. SSAB has during the years developed the market for high strength steels and at the same time developed a unique technical support. Knowledge Service Center (KSC) is today a part of that offer and specialized on applications for high strength steels. One of the main tasks within the KSC is to work close to the customer in joint projects where the knowledge about steel and how to best utilize their potential is provided by SSAB whereas the customer often know their products best and how their customers utilize them. These projects are often very successful and beneficial for both parties. In order to be in the forefront and develop the market for high strength steels a lot of R&D and development of our products is conducted within SSAB as well as with external partners. SSAB is today the leading steel producer with high focus on products with high quality often delivered with a soft package and knowhow, which makes SSAB unique in the steel world today.
SSAB and Knowledge Service Center are looking for a coworker within processing technology. He/She will work within a group called "Manufacturing Technology" and focus on welding technology and thermal cutting.
You will mainly work within the field of welding technology (MAG, SAW, MMA).
We drive the innovation of high strength steels. In your role you conduct research and development activities in order to develop or invent new products, components or processes together with experts, customer or other external parties. SSAB has a strong end-user focus.
As a specialist, you like to analyze test results and create detailed reports about conclusions and recommendations. You also provide feedback and input regarding the desired properties in order to raise the competitiveness of the product.
In daily work at site you will participate in internal and external forums but also develop manuals, brochures and other technical documents that for example help both sales and customers. For example you will recommend specific data in developing product data sheets etc. You will be an asset in creation of various brochures.
Since we build the markets together with our customers, you will manage strategic development activities to support new opportunities, plan and coordinate testing and analyzes of new products. From time to time you initiate and participate in research projects or otherwise obtain the required skills through universities, institutes, networks or collaborations.
Our customers are often small and medium sized and in your role you execute customer cases and projects or in other forms activities that result in added value for customers such as recommendations and problem solving, from development stage to full production.
This role need structure to be able to document the results obtained and, when appropriate, present the results to the customer. It also mean that you will contribute to the knowledge sharing through courses and seminars internally and externally. You develop and update manuals and other course materials in your profession.
Your qualifications
A bachelor degree or similar within the technical field is preferred. IWE diploma is meritorious. Experience from workshop processes like MAG welding is of importance. We think you have minimum 3-5 years of experience at least to be successful in this role.
We are a global company but also leading in the Nordic market and therefor you have to speak Swedish and English language. Good presentation and communication skills in Swedish and English are needed.
Proven skill in project leading, working in teams as well as perform individual is part of the daily work.
Good structure and quality thinking is necessary in order to handle the different projects and tasks.
You will have approximately 50-60 travel days per year in this position.
