At the forefront of Research and Development in the automotive industry, Volvo Group Trucks Technology (GTT) offers you the opportunity to become a part of the team that is in charge of the software development for the Transport Mission and Route Management, both on-board and off-board the vehicle. We develop the command and control center that supervise the autonomous vehicles as well as the on-board logic. We optimize the complete transportation and securing the vehicles mission and all activities along the transportation. We are part of Vehicle Automation department which has the responsibility to lead the development of Vehicle Automation and Active Safety systems for the full life-cycle enabling tomorrow's trucks.The work will be in close cooperation with other parties in the Volvo organization, as well as world class industrial players and academia.Within our team Mission and Route Management, we develop both off- board and on-board technology. We are proud to say that we are using the latest Java technologies delivering a very modern micro service based command and control center to be hosted in the cloud. For the on-board technology we use C++ as our language. Of course we use agile methods and as we are adopting towards DevOps model your work will cover a broad spectrum all the way from developing prototypes of future "killer applications" to managing the lifecycle of the existing ones. Your missionAs a Software Development Engineer your core responsibilities and activities are:Develop new software applications - on-board and / or off-board frontend and backend - according to our development standards (epics and user stories will be given, but understanding the wanted effect you should also be able to read between the lines)Deploy, operate and maintain our applications incl. driving continuous improvement of the same for better quality, functionality, cost effectiveness, etc.Lead and drive SW development from a life cycle perspective, end to end feature technology developmentActively contribute to the solution design of new technologies and servicesCommunicating with internal and external stakeholders/customersAnd finally, but not at least, continuously reflect upon how we are doing things and where we can improveYour SkillsYour personality is your major reason for success, but we think you have:Master or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering (or equivalent)5 Years' experience in Automotive IndustryStrong technical background within Automation and robotics technologyStrong knowledge of SW development, programming, simulation and modelingGreat knowledge of programming languages e.g. C and C++, Python, Java, Spring Matlab/SimulinkKnowledge in asynchronous programming, JMS, Active MQ, micro service architecture, cloud services, test automation frameworks and React is a great plusExperience from mobile (connected) applications is also a great plusKnowledge in the transportation sector and / or air traffic management systemRequirements handlingContinuous improvement mindsetPassion for new technology and autonomous solutionsSolid communication skillWinning attitude and team working skillsCustomer oriented mindsetEntrepreneurial ThinkingCurious & Can do attitudeEnglish fluent (written and spoken)We value end customer focus, delivery precision, a coaching mind-set and good communication skills.You don't wait for perfection before you start and you get things done.You, like the rest of us, are curious, positive, pro-active and want to create high customer value.For more information please contactPernilla Sustovic, Group Manager Transport Mission & Route, +46 31 3222269
