To support the new strategy with an aggressive plan for electrification, Volvo Cars are currently moving to in-house development of key software components of the traction battery management system. Traction batteries are complex systems containing hundreds of battery cells together with a thermal conditioning system. In order to operate the battery optimally, it is important to know internal parameters of the battery cells, such as charge level, available energy and power. Many of these are, however, not directly measurable by sensors and must thus be estimated.
As Software Designer, taking part of the in-house SW team at Volvo Cars, you will be part of SW team working with agile processes and tools such as SCRUM team.
In-house software team is responsible for the in-house development of the control algorithms for the Battery Control. For implementation of functionality, the base tools we are using are Matlab/Simulink. There are strict processes for quality assurance in-place. The team is working in close cooperation with stakeholders, and with an agile Scrum process, supported by tools like Jira, Moreover, there is a complete toolchain for building the complete Autosar compliant SW packages that are tested in MIL, HIL and vehicle.
Main responsibilities
* Develop software components and applications in MATLAB/Simulink
* Review software requirements specification
* Design and develop unit test specifications and perform unit testing
* Responsible for issue and change management on developed models
* Secure that models are ready in time, updated and released
* Discuss technical solutions with supplier and the internal team
* Support investigations and task force activities
Required qualifications
* At least B.Sc. degree within Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or other equivalent level of education
* Experience of Simulation and Model-Based Design using MATLAB/ Simulink
* Experience of developing software algorithms and specifications
* Experience from automotive industry and understanding of AUTOSAR
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* "B" driving license, valid in EU
Meritorious qualifications:
* Knowledge in Volvo Product Development System
* Experience from software design in automotive industry
* Programming skills in C, C++, python,...
* Working in agile development processes
* Other language skills are beneficial
