Scania is on a transformation journey from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Scania Industrial Design (Scania I.D) is playing an important role in this process, therefore we're expanding and currently searching for a talented and dedicated Senior Industrial Designer with a holistic mindset to join our team.



About the position

As a designer in our team, you will be instrumental in creating sustainable, premium product experiences for the future, that will make a difference for both people and planet.

As a team, we collaborate with multiple product development units and stake holders across the organization. You will take part in a wide variety of advanced design projects, reaching from interior to exterior, from bus to truck, as well as other products related to our services and future scenarios of transportation systems, from early concepts to the final stages of industrialization.

The position is based at Scania I.D's facilities in Södertälje, Sweden.



Main responsibilities

You will develop and deliver outstanding design, aligned with and evolving the Scania I.D Strategy. We support and influence Scania R&D by converting strategies, briefs and consumer insights into innovative design solutions.

In our efficient and relatively compact design studio environment you will lead design efforts in major projects, ensuring that the corresponding user experience is considered through all stages of the product development process.

This process involves collaboration with cross functional product development teams, stake holders and suppliers to define criteria/specifications, develop product concepts through creative ideation and iteration, prototypes and solutions from first idea all the way to production.



Qualifications and experience:

We believe that the ideal candidate has the following qualifications and experiences:

• A master's degree in Industrial Design/Automotive Design (or equivalent).
• Experience from the automotive industry is considered meritorious.
• Solid professional work experience with multiple high-level projects.
• Exceptional visual communication skills (incl. advanced 2D sketching and preferably 3D concept modeling).
• Deep understanding and knowledge of design as a tool for building and transforming brands, as well as supporting business strategies.

Outstanding communication skills is a key factor, including the ability to speak confidently about design, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

We are looking for demonstrated ability to work in team environments with a highly collaborative mindset. Our day to day work demands an agile attitude, adapting to different ambition levels and project conditions.

You should possess the characteristics and capability to work independently towards project goals and timelines, with a proven ability to handle multiple assignments and tasks.
