Do you have experience as a security engineer or a hands-on security manager and are looking for a new challenge? Do you want to help build a security culture in one of the biggest media companies in the Nordics? Then we might have the right role for you! We're looking for a security engineer to join our Schibsted News Media to help us level-up and shift-left on security.
As a security engineer you will be part of the central product and technology organisation, and you will help other teams in the organisation to establish a security culture and to build security into their products. You will work together with our different brands and functions to implement the needed best practice in terms of security processes, tools and awareness.
Schibsted News Media consist of several of the biggest newspapers and internet sites in Norway and Sweden like VG, Aftonbladet, Aftenposten, SvD, BT and smaller sites like tek.no and godt.no. In addition, you will collaborate with a central security team with talented security engineers working on projects across all of Schibsted divisions.
Your main responsibilities will be:

To build a community of security champions across Schibsted News Media

To help implement security best practices across the organisation
-
To help identify and fix security vulnerabilities
-
To help respond and mitigate security incidents
-
To provide guidance on security to the tech teams across Schibsted News Media
-
To review systems and code for security weaknesses and suggest security improvements
-
To help build a security culture across Schibsted News Media businesses and operations
-
To help build and improve security services such as:
-
Secure Development Lifecycle
-
Vulnerability Management
-
Security Assessment
-
Automated Risk Scoring
-
Security Training
-
Automated breach detection and response
-
Incident response
-
Cloud Security
Skills and Requirements:
We would like you to have most of the following:
-
Good people skills and appreciate working with other engineers to solve problems.

Good communications skills
-
Excellent skills in spoken and written English. Proficient in a Scandinavian language is a big plus

A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science is nice, but experience matters more
-
Strong problem-solving skills
-
A strong UNIX background
-
A strong security background
-
Experience with development in Java, C/C++, C#, Go, Perl, Python, PHP, Javascript or other programming languages
-
Experience with DevOps practices and infrastructure as code
-
DevSecOps experience with an «automate everything»-mindset
-
Knowledge about security in containers
-
Experience with application security across cloud, PaaS, IaaS and SaaS environments, including security experience with AWS, Google or Azure

Product & Tech is responsible for product development in News Media. The unit consists of product managers, software engineers, UX experts, and user researchers. A big part of our work is developing joint technology platforms for Schibsted's news brands. These include platforms for content production and distribution, digital subscriptions, and advertising. Most of our teams work distributed, with colleagues in Oslo, Stockholm, Krakow, Gdansk, Bergen, and Stavanger.
