The mission As a Roll-to-roll Process Development Engineer at Epishine, your mission is to advance the critical production processes to deliver stable, scalable, high-yield manufacturing as we ramp toward volume production. You will lead hands-on improvements, integrate and commission new equipment, and turn promising ideas into reliable, repeatable reality.
Working in especially close collaboration with our brilliant development engineer Luis, you will complement existing competencies by taking ownership of process stabilization and new machine implementation. You will contribute both strategically and operationally - from evaluating and ordering new equipment, to running hands-on trials and managing projects with cross-functional team involvement.
Some of your tasks include:
Develop and simplify production steps and equipment to reduce operator complexity and increase robustness.
Design, integrate, and commission new tooling and machine add-ons; drive FAT/SAT and ramp-up.
Optimize processes using structured experiments and data (SPC, yield, OEE) to improve throughput and quality.
Diagnose and solve deviations through root-cause analysis; implement sustainable corrective actions.
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Production Engineering, and Operations; manage focused projects end-to-end.
Maintain and improve uptime via preventive maintenance plans and continuous improvement routines.
Scale knowledge by documenting best practices and training new engineers and operators.
In your first year, you'll get deep into our roll-to-roll lines, sensors, and vision systems for in-line quality control, becoming fluent across the full production flow. From time to time, you will be expected to be available outside of your working hours to provide technical support the production teams when problems arise. You will report to our CTO and be based in our brand-new facilities in Tornby, Linköping.
Who are we looking for? We are looking for a skilled and driven Process Development Engineer with a solid engineering foundation (e.g., Materials Science, Applied Physics, Mechanical or similar) and a passion for advancing manufacturing processes in an innovative environment. You have around 10 years of hands-on experience with complex machines and equipment in industrial environments. Experience with roll-to-roll (R2R) processes, functional thin films, web handling, printing functional materials, coating low viscosity inks, metrology, sensors, vision systems, PLC/automation basics are meritorious and will help you hit the ground running.
As a person, you are someone who:
Takes initiative, starts activities independently, and follows through to achieve results - always with the company goals in mind.
Is self-reliant and structured in your work, taking full responsibility for your tasks and driving them forward.
Has a humble attitude and is happy to collaborate with and seek help from colleagues
Is quality conscious, meticulous, and goal-oriented, with a great awareness of quality standards and a drive to meet or exceed them.
Possesses natural problem-solving and analytical skills, able to work effectively with complex technical challenges by breaking down problems and developing sound, data-driven solutions.
We believe you thrive in environments that are fast-paced, collaborative, and constantly evolving. As a scale-up company, we are building and learning as we grow - which means we rely on team members who are innovative, flexible, and excited to contribute beyond the boundaries of a traditional role.
As our teams consist of colleagues from various parts of the world, you should be comfortable communicating both verbally and in writing in English.
Do you feel like you do not tick all of the above boxes? Apply anyway, and we will assess if you fit into our team, either now or in the future!
What do we offer? At Epishine, we offer the chance to be part of an exciting journey and the opportunity to contribute to a more sustainable planet. As a quickly growing scale-up, there will be opportunities for development, and you will have brilliant colleagues to collaborate with and learn from. Additionally, we offer a secure employment with pension and insurance benefits, yearly wellness allowance and a friendly company culture where collaboration, innovation and customer centricity are at our core. Application procedure Does this role sound exciting? Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis so apply today if you are interested.
