Here we have the research specialisations of Industrial Engineering and Management, and Future Energy. Our work takes place in cooperation with and in strategic agreements with companies, organisations and public authorities in the region.

Position description
The School of Business, Society and Engineering is looking for a researcher in energy and environmental engineering. The position involves working within the research specialization Future Energy Center (FEC). The work is part of the research activities conducted in modelling and simulation, model-predictive control and robust optimization under the DISTRHEAT project at FEC. The focus on the project is on modeling hybridized energy systems (thermal) and developing advanced model predictive control approaches and robust optimization tools using adaptive physics-based and data-driven (machine learning) approaches.

A large part of the work will be done at - or in close contact with - several partner organizations. The successful candidate is therefore expected to have a good engineering background with profound skills in turbine diagnostics and related modelling tools and be able to interact effectively with partner research institutes, industry, colleagues and other stakeholders. The researcher is expected to take initiatives, develop own ideas and work independently, as well as take responsibility for the work. As the project interacts closely with other researchers and industrial partners, the applicant needs to have high collaborative skills.

The position is a temporary employment of 2 years.

Qualification
The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering.

To qualify for the appointment as a researcher, you should have received a PhD and shown research and pedagogical skills within the subject area. Further reference is made to the Higher Education Ordinance section 4 and Appointments Procedure for teachers at Mälardalen University.

The position requires sound verbal and written communication skills in English.

The school will select the most suitable candidate for this position following a combined evaluation of competence and skills, in addition to documented qualifications. Decisive importance is attached to personal suitability. Personal suitability will be judged in relation to the candidate's capacity to effectively carry out the research work in this area, to integrate and contribute to a positive development of the research environment at MDH, as well as deliver value to our partner organizations.

In general terms the assessment criteria shall be based on the ability to cooperate as well as the ability and suitability otherwise required to fulfil the duties well.
