Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AMM) is a section of the Division of Community Medicine and Public Health at the School of Medicine. At the Occupational and Environmental Health conducts research in four main areas and the AMM there are four professors and three associate professors. AMM is responsible for a number of courses including in medical school and further education for doctors.

SUBJECT AREA DESCRIPTION: Epidemiology and statistic is an important part in the research programs at the Sahlgrenska Academy. In particular, environmental epidemiology is an expanding field comprising prospective population-based studies and large databases from matching with national and regional registers. JOB ASSIGNMENTS: An important part of the work is to be independent and carry out statistical and epidemiological analyses in large research data bases, obtained mainly from large general population-based studies and occupational cohorts completed with data from matchings with national and regional registers. The main methods used are regression models and mixed linear models. In addition, there will be possibilities to work with gene-interaction models. The main areas will be air pollution, occupational epidemiology, all with focus on airway diseases and lung function measures. The research environment comprises several post-docs, statisticians and PhD students. The employed person has to participate in teaching on different levels, as well as perform own research and supervising of PhD students.
Utbildning/Erfarenhet
ELIGIBILITY: The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and inUniversity of Gothenburg's Appointments Procedure for Teachers. Qualified for appointment as postdoctoral research fellow (forskarassistent) is a person who has been awarded a PhD degree in epidemiology with focus towards environmental epidemiology and public health or have achieved equivalent academic qualifications. Priority should be given to candidates who have been awarded a PhD or achieved equivalent qualifications no more than seven years before the application deadline. Candidates who graduated earlier may also be given primary consideration if there are special reasons. Special reasons are considered to be a leave of absence due to illness, parental leave for example. Reason, dates and extent must be clearly specified in the application and verified with the relevant documentation. ASSESSMENT: Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the HigherEducation Ordinance. First assessment criterion is scientific skills and second assessment criterion is pedagogical skills. Experience in planning and participation in environmental-epidemiological research studies in Sweden and internationally is meritorious. Further, a documented ability of supervision of doctoral students and to receive external funding is considered an advantage. More info on the University of Gothenburg
