The role
As a R&D Material Specialist you will be a part of the R&D Cable Accessories team located in Alingsås. This team is working with AC and DC cable accessories within Medium Voltage and High Voltage range. The role as R&D Material Specialist is broad since the development projects handle many aspects of our products (such as research, design, material, environmental, installation and producibility). You will be joining the R&D Cable Accessories group where there the following competences exists; R&D Design Engineer, R&D Specialist and R&D Project Managers.

Main tasks
Your main focus will be internal; joining project meetings and having contact with various stake holders such as Project Managers, Production Manager, Quality and Procurement. Some practical work in our lab will also be a part of the job regarding material tests and prototype trials etc. You will be our internal expert regarding all material issues. Your external contacts will be in connection with patent issues, but also with subcontractors, customers, external labs, universities, taking part of fairs etc.

Your profile and professional experience
• You have preferably a MSc. or PhD in Chemical Engineering (focusing on materials or polymers) or an Engineering degree with material targeting
• You have experience working with rubber material (elastomers) and/or other polymers such as plastic materials
• Language skills: fluent English is a requirement, fluent Swedish is preferred (knowledge in German is a bonus)

As a person you have a positive attitude towards your work tasks and your surroundings. You are a doer with excellent collaboration skills and have a self-driven personality who enjoy taking initiatives and to create and maintain good internal and external long-term relations.

Additional details
You will be located in Alingsås and report to Head of R&D Cable Accessories. Because of the global set-up you will be travelling to other sites occasionally, estimated 10-20 days per year, domestic (NKT site in Karlskrona) and international (NKT sites in Nordenham, Cologne and Berlin).
