We are now looking for two experienced Engineer's within Design and/or Mechanical Calculation. In this highly international and multi-faceted position, you will be part of the global R&D team.
You will be part of Components in Ludvika. We are a business unit within the division Power Grids. Components has manufactured transformer components since the beginning of the 20th century. The business unit, which is ABB's largest manufacturer of tap-changers and IEC-bushings, is located in Ludvika and we are ABB group's center for power transmission technology. The unit also has research and development responsibility for these products and markets all over the world.
Tasks
Would you like to work within a business characterized by collaboration, development and quality? You will have exciting and varied work in front of you where you will have a wide network internally and externally, you will often have colleagues as well as suppliers and, even sometimes, customers for feedback on new possible functions. Work with both the local factory and the global organization within Tap Changers and have development opportunities within the areas of mechanical design or calculation or maybe in the future take the role as lead engineer or project manager.
• In this role as Designer, you will be responsible for developing or improving our products. Meaning creation of new parts, new products and product variant building, making designs being able to function over time in a complex environment, creating drawings and technical documentation, as well as specifying and performing testing. To succeed with this, you will need to be able to take the lead in the optimization of the designs together with other engineering disciplines.
• In the role as performing mechanical calculations, you will be responsible for making advanced mechanical calculations of designs containing a variety of different materials and behaviors. Meaning probably both static and dynamic calculations as well as understanding if different phenomena such as bounces, fatigue or buckling could happen.
Depending on who you are, different combinations in-between those roles can also be of interest.

Requirements
You have a Master of Science, or higher, with specialization in Mechanics, calculations or similar areas. Fundamental knowledge of Tap-changers and Transformers as well as different materials, manufacturing methods and electrical knowledge, will be important, therefore are your curiosity and wiliness to learn more within those areas of great importance. Experience from Creo and Windchill tools are preferred. You master English, written and spoken alike. If you are proficient in Swedish, it is advantageous. Besides your deep technical knowledge, you are analytical and capable of grasping the bigger picture and understanding complex systems. Your system-thinking makes you see consequences of various actions and make decisions that help us achieve our long-term goals. Other important qualities in order to succeed and prosper in this team-oriented role are your excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
