Are you passionate about design systems? iZettle is searching for an established Product Design Leader to help us evolve our product design language, scale our design system and nurture the growth and development of the designers within our growing Design Systems Team.
Our design system sits at the heart of how we design and build products at iZettle. The team is cross functional, comprising of a talented bunch of designers, developers an agile coach and product manager. They come together around a mission to create a seamless, holistic and exceptional customer experience for all of iZettles customers and to provide the means for our product teams to design and build with confidence and ease.Job Description:
What you'll do:
Drive the evolution of our product design language marrying brand experience and utility into everyday experiences that out merchant's love.
Lead the team in defining the core elements and a compelling vision of iZettle's design system.
Together with your cross functional peers, scale and strengthen the team through capability growth and the evolution of their purpose and mission.
Work to uncover unmet needs for the Design System from customers, our product design teams, senior leadership and identify opportunities to make it more powerful and usable.
Provide community outreach to cultivate internal knowledge around the design system and its multiple applications by coaching contributing teams who are exploring new additions to the design system.
Identify opportunities to increase the reach and impact of the team and their work.
Create a space where great design and product development work can happen. Establish a culture of collaboration, critique and measurable impact.
Divide your time between driving the design systems strategy and managing four designers within the systems team.
Drive craft and designer development by establishing the parameters for success. Guide, coach and mentor designers in processes and techniques and hold them accountable.
Who you are:
A systems thinker, connecting and making relationships across multiple teams and experiences.
You have experience with design languages and human interface guidelines.
You are familiar with frameworks, components, and patterns -- ideally as both a designer, customer, and system creator.
You are extremely comfortable with ambiguity and love solving ambitious problems in a generative and iterative approach
You have the mindset and methodologies to understand internal and external customers. You delight first and foremost in serving their needs effectively.
You are a detailed conscious designer with strong knowledge of both interaction and visual design.
You are an established leader with proven experience managing high performing teams and supporting the wellbeing and career growth of the designers in your care.
You bring a deep knowledge of design principles and methods, innovation, and ideation tools.
Master of the UX lifecycle with deep, direct experience in most skill areas and tools
Customer-focused, with experience using design research methods to uncover customer insights
Excellent project management, communication, and organisational skills.
Experience leading cross-team efforts, and synthesising feedback and input from product management, engineering, and design.
Thorough knowledge of essential channels and platforms
