Cochlear BAS (Bone Anchored Solutions) in Mölnlycke just outside of Gothenburg designs, develops and produces the bone-anchored Baha hearing implant currently used in three products: BP100, Intenso and Cordelle II. The company has grown rapidly in past years and will continue to do so through: Customer Motivation, Product Innovation, Operational Excellence, Organizational Leadership and Sustainable Value. BAS has approximately 200 employees with a wide range of competencies such as mechanical, technical, electro & bioengineering, design & product development, software development, audiology, clinical research, purchasing etc.
Position Overview / Purpose:
Responsible for mechanical engineering in the department according to objectives set in agreement with the manager. This applies to new products and accessories, as well as legacy products. For the mechanical subsystem manage a product development assignment towards its goals. This includes both subsystem engineering and sub-project management.
Responsibility:
• Being a principal technical expert and a leader of continuous change and improvement.
• Management and result responsibility for the assignment.
• Accountable for working across areas to implement business strategy set by senior management.
• Lead mechanical concept development, industrial design and engineering for the mechanical subsystem.
• Anchor project decisions, development, status and prognosis in the line and project organisation.
• Accountable for working across areas to implement business strategy set by senior management.
• Take action to solve deviations and immediately report them.
• Follow decided work method, PIP (Product Innovation Process), and applicable procedures in the Quality Manual.
• Deliver technical specification (requirement and design) for mechanical subsystem.
• Follow robust engineering principles.
• Responsible for developing new contacts & relationships.
Key Incumbent requirements:
• Engineering Degree or Engineering Certificate.
• Technical expert with advanced specialist knowledge which typically takes 7-10 years to acquire.
• Principal authority in specific field due to specialist technical knowledge at an expert level.
• Fluent in English and Swedish, spoken and written.
• Good writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to channel and facilitate open communication across functions
• Good command of mechanical CAD tools, e.g. ProE/Creo, Inventor.
• Experience working with established project models
• Excellent knowledge of documenting work through reports and descriptions
• Good experience of best practice in mechanical design
• Result oriented and strong commitment to precise deliveries
• Ability to enthuse, motivate and a willingness to stand up for own visions and ideas.
