Here, your ideas and innovations can turn into pioneering technology that impact society and change the world. Have you ever wondered how meaningful your daily contribution could be if you were given the chance to build a complete Baseband Unit on Commercial-off-the-shelf server HW? Are you ready to find out? If yes, this career opportunity will certainly be of interest to you!

Job Summary:
RAN-I, within the Product Development Unit 4G5G, is the new Incubator unit where we make brilliant ideas grow into innovative products. Our first mission is to drive and deliver specific alternative solutions from Technical analysis to Product introduction in a context where innovative mindset and methods can be tried out. Together with our colleagues from Systems & Technology we are drafting a new way of implementing RAN utilizing the experience we have deployed on a dramatically different platform.

The Radio Resource Management (RRM) is central in the LTE/ LTE Evolution /NR business offering. New service demands are evolving, driven by the new eco systems for LTE evolution and 5G and the requirements are increasing. Current RRM solutions are based on the Ericsson Multi Core Architecture, but industry is moving fast toward more SW defined using COTS HW solutions.

We are now looking for a Principal Developer in Radio Resource Management performance on COTS solutions. As an expert in this area, your main responsibility will be to secure our technology leadership and ensure we have the right scope, quality, time and cost for our product development. As a key player of our unit, you will also teach, coach, challenge and develop individuals, teams and organizations by fostering a creative and learning culture.

Responsibilities:
Secure Ericsson's technical leadership in the RRM on COTS area by actively comparing Ericsson solution with the industry trends (competing vendors' baseband technologies, and research related projects) and suggest actions in needed areas. Secure that new ideas/innovations that arise in the area are patented;

Drive systemization, specification, requirements, implementation and functional partitioning of RRM by creating technical roadmaps and architectural runway plans;

Set the architecture that addresses the challenges of effective use of the underlying hardware, to utilize the strengths and avoid weaknesses of the COTS and underlying operating system;

Drive the investigations and evaluations of the soft solution for 4G,5G and coming generations that will set the RRM on COTS architecture blueprint;

Drive that COTS solution RRM provides for the algorithmic functionality that enables the operators to utilize their spectrum and cloud capacity in the most efficient way;

Interact with customers to promote and explain our solutions as well as picking up need for product evolution;

Drive the development of the COTS based RRM algorithms that are central to all the key elements of RRM evolution;

Be responsible for RRM on COTS E2E Technical Coordination to continuously secure RAN solutions in line with performance requirements;

Synchronize with the RRM on EMCA evolution to secure alignment in selected areas e.g. KPI, fault handling.

Key Qualifications:
Strong technical competence in Software development both as developer and technical leader within Radio Resource Management or application development on COTS. Having experience in both constitutes an advantage.

Proven track record of working with customers to promote and explain the solutions as well as picking up need for product evolution.

Proven technical experience as a leader with focus on SW architecture, agile methods and continuous integration.

Experience in standardization or contributions to open source projects, ideally both in technical coordinator and individual contributor roles.

Proven ability to follow up and communicate goals regularly and proactively set new goals.

Comfortable to work with loosely-specified roles and changing requirements.

You have a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or equivalent discipline, or the equivalent level of knowledge and have been working in the industry 10+ years.

Your English is fluent in both speaking and writing.

Primary Location: Kista, Sweden.
